DoTerra Oils pt. 2

In the last week I have tried two new ideas with Doterra’s Lemon Oil.
I wanted to make sure I had enough to get accurate results! And let me tell you, I am impressed!!

I have written before about the benefits of flavored water, putting fruit in our water. There are so many health benefits its mind boggling!
I love lemons for many different reasons. First and foremost being that it is a natural pectic, when consumed in a tepid glass of water first thing in the morning the pectin picks up all the junk from your system and flushes it right now, helping to clean your kidneys and liver. I have felt a hundred times better since I’ve starting “eating” a lemon a day! It isnt only good for your insides but your outsides too! Ha!
What I mean by that is, since I’ve starting with the lemons… Around the beginning of June this year, I have not had one acne breakout. I’m pretty prone to it. Gross, I know. Especially in the summer with all the sweat and being outside, getting dirty… Having your system cleaned from the inside shows on the outside! It’s wonderful how clear my skin my has been!!

A friend of mine suggested using a glass bottle, the acid from the lemon oil could erode plastic. Instead of going to the store to buy a $20 glass water bottle, that let’s face it, I am only going to break… I bought a $4 bottle of Voss Water and just reused it.

But consuming it isnt the only way to reap the skin benefits. Lemon oil has antibacterial properties, anit-fungal, Disinfectant, Antiseptic.. and the list goes on!
So I have made a face exfoliate to combat skin problems as well.

Doterra Lemon Oil Face Scrub

Isn’t food amazing? All the different benefits that we can reap, even when we aren’t eating it?!
There are so many things that we can do with things around the kitchen, besides make delicious goodies.

I’ve got a recipe for a face scrub that not only cultivates the benefits of raw honey but also Doterra Oils!

It’s important to use raw honey. Raw means that it is taken directly from the hive, bottled and sold to you. No alterations, to cook time. Nothing. Which means that all the health benefits are there. Honey is a natural anti-inflammatory and is anti-bacterial. Honey is good for when you have a cold, or a sore throat. The honey will take down the swelling and kill what ever it is that is making you sick. I love drinking my honey in tea! Raw honey is also said to help relieve seasonal allergies.
I used Pure honey from the grocery store. It still has some of the same properties, mostly moisturizing. Which is OK because the Lemon Oil will add all the benefits I need. I have raw honey in the house, but not enough for this recipe. I’d rather hold onto it for my tea 😉

I am using the honey topically here, it is so good for your skin. Not only it extremely moisturizing, but being anti-bacterial and an anti-inflammatory, it helps with existing and to prevent breakouts.

Also in this recipe I’ve added Doterra’s Lemon Oil for the same reasons. The lemon oil will clean your face, while killing all the pimple and blackhead causing nastiness! Ha!

1/2c Raw honey
1/4c baking soda
2tsp cinnamon
5 drops of Doterra Lemon Oil

I use this 3 times a week in the shower and my skin is thanking me! Ha!

DoTerra Oils pt. 1

I have recently added essentials to my “must try” list. I hear about them all the time, I was curious. A very good friend of mine swears by her oils. She uses them for EVERYTHING.
I had to jump on this train.
I already use Epsom Salt on a most daily basis. My face, my baths, my legs. The Husband will soak his feet at night (especially if he is breaking in a knew pair of work boots.) One of my AMAZING find for Epsom salt can be found here and here.

I have been having a lot of issues sleeping lately
The last couple of nights I have used the Lavender Oil from my DoTerra trail kit. I put a dab of the oil on the soles of my feet and a drop or two on my pillow. I was able to fall asleep faster! The scent of the lavender is heavenly! I think that tonight I may mix a few drops of the lavender with a carrier oil in a spritz bottle and spritz my pillow for a more even coverage of scent… just a thought.

Last night was the best nights sleep I have gotten in a very long time. Before bed I dissolved 2 cups of Epsom Salt in a VERY hot bath and added 4 drops of my lavender oil! I grabbed a book and soaked for 20-30 minutes, it was so calming, so relaxing. I got out and went to bed, I must’ve fallen asleep right away! I didnt toss and turn, I didnt wake up until the rose through my window!! I feel amazing this morning!

One last thing that I have used the lavender oil so far for is for itch relief! From bug bites.
I bought a little spritz bottle from Target for $1 (in the travel toiletries section)
I filled it about half way with Witch Hazel, dropped about 8 drops of lavender in it and a bit of water.
Shook it up and sprayed my bug bites.
Now it didnt completely make the itch go away, but enough to get my mind off of it, the lavender was soothing and the witch hazel calmed my skin.

I plan on using the lemon oil today, see what I can come up with. I know that the oils are ultra concentrated. With the lemon I am looking for health benefits! I have talked about how great lemons are for you in your water here.
I am thinking I’ll start with one drop of lemon oil per glass or water bottle! Cant wait to see the results!

I received my oils from a DoTerra Wellness Advocate, Chelsey Miller.

Face Masks!

image

I used to love a certain mask I’d buy at a certain beauty store for an insane amount of money.
Then one day while trolling through Target (who doesn’t do THAT?) I found a  purifying mud mask. The specific reason I picked it was is that it contains witch hazel. I love witch hazel. This mask also only cost $1.99. I was sold.

I was able to get two uses out of this little packet. The first time when I was done I just folded it over and put it away, used it again about a week later.
Made my face feel refreshed and oh so clean!

I’ve Found It!

Quick post!
Since we’ve been outside working on the chicken coop, I got 13. no lie. 13 mosquito bites on my legs. I HATE MOSQUITO BITES. Now for everyone else they are just an annoyance. For me they make me want to rip my legs off. I am always covered in scars from tearing them open all the time. I cant help myself.

Ok. So here’s the thing. I use Epsom salt for when I decide I’d like to take a bath. Especially after a long hard day. The Epsom salt in a hot bath draws out toxins, relieving stress, reducing tension, easing sore muscles.. I got to thinking, if it draws OUT toxins maaaybe just MAAAYBE it will help the mosquito bites! I used the exfoliate I made for my legs (after shaving, see my post “Me Time”) I rubbed the coconut oil and Epsom salt mixture on the bites and VIOLA!!! After about 5 minutes the itch went away!! The best part is that they haven’t bothered me since.

I’m tellin’ ya, google the uses for Epsom salt. Use it. It’s cheap and works wonders for a lot of different things!

Food on my Face

I have terribly dry skin in the winter and terribly oily skin in the summer! I cant catch a break! Ha!
I’ve tried using all the expensive skin care treatments to help even out my moisture (Mostly I do this for my face, hands and legs.) I’ve bought toners and skin brighteners and anything else I could think of to try to even out my completion (acne, chicken pox scars and freckles.)
Actually I cant say everything because I refuse to buy a bunch of expensive makeup and just hide my face from the world. I realize that this is some people’s preference, its just not mine.

For my face twice a week I like to use a scrub I make at home. The honey and olive oil are very moisturizing while the brown sugar acts as the exfoliate. Honey is a good remedy for acne, this has natural antibacterial properties.
Raw Honey, Brown Sugar and Olive Oil.
I don’t have measurements, I just mix them until I come to a consistency I like.

I also make a facial toner I use every night. Witch Hazels helps to even skin tone, and reduce redness and lemon juice helps to brighten skin. You can find a bottle of the witch hazel at Walmart with the rubbing alcohol and peroxide. It’s inexpensive as well. I think I may have paid $4 for mine.
1/2 C. water
1 C. witch hazel
Juice from one whole lemon.

The skin on my legs is very sensitive, especially when I have to shave every other day in the summer so I don’t look like Chewbaca! Every other time I shave I use a scrub I made with coconut oil and Epsom salt. The coconut oil ads a good amount of moisture while the Epsom salt helps to decrease inflammation, redness and irritation. NOW Epsom salt is SALT. I use it after I’ve already shaved my legs and its… salty! It tingles and may be a little burny! You could use it before you shave, but then you run the risk of gunking up your razor.
I just use a couple tablespoons of coconut oil and sprinkle in the Epsom salt. Only enough that its slightly gritty in texture.
